Classic cars rally to raise thousands for Maddie

This week, Ascot Group founder and CEO Andrew Scott will be taking part in a classic car rally across Europe to Monaco, raising money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

The MADi Ball Rally is a huge event in the glazing industry, where Andrew began his career, and will be attended by 25 of the fenestration industry’s leading figures.

Andrew comments: “7 days, 2,000 miles and 25 classic cars, with some great stops en route, including a night at the famous Casino, and all in aid of a good cause. What’s not to be excited about? I hope the car makes the first leg, all the way to Dover!”

What is the MADi Ball Rally?

The MADi Rally is a 6-day vintage car rally from Brands Hatch in Kent, down through France to Monaco, where the drivers will roll into the Café de Paris in Monte Carlo before spending an evening in the casino.

While for some the enjoyment comes from wacky racing in a vintage car (and others the opportunity to see some classic breakdowns!), the most important part is raising some serious cash for a worthwhile cause.

Fundraising for Anthony Nolan

The MADi Ball Rally is the biggest of many fundraising events set up by Gareth Mobley, Dan Gill and Leon Day, after Dan’s daughter Maddie was diagnosed with a severe and rare blood condition that required intensive treatment.

The Anthony Nolan Trust was instrumental in helping to find a donor for Maddie, who thankfully went on to make a full recovery. As well as raising awareness of these life-threatening conditions, they collect a register of stem cell and bone marrow donors and conduct groundbreaking research into blood cancers and transplants.

The year of fundraising began at one of the glazing industry’s biggest events, the FIT Show, with a Sponsored Casino Night raising more than £10,000. Alongside the rally, the organisers hope to raise more than £100,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust in 2015.
